Dear Volunteer,
Time is one of the most honoring gifts a person can give because it is truly precious!
If you’re reading this newsletter, you’ve joined the hundreds of people who’ve decided to block out the hours, take the drive (or walk!), and steward beauty and nourishment for the land and neighbors of Franklinton.
I think the way the universe works is, more often than not, our generous offering of time is reciprocated with a myriad of gifts.
During my formative young years I came to Franklinton to hang out with unhoused folks or pass out pumpkins (Hallowe’en) / pancakes (breakfast with Santa) to kids.
I didn’t know at the time, but that volunteerism changed the trajectory of my life—it familiarized me with a neighborhood I never would have visited as a young adult. Those hours offered me a more real and whole perspective on my city.
My time in the Bottoms planted seeds of intrigue, delight, and loyalty in Franklinton… the place which became my home and workplace for the last decade!
I want to express my sincerest gratitude to you, dear person, for your precious gift. And I hope you receive the gifts Franklinton has to offer you every time you join us here on the Farm.
Sincerely,
Becca
