Garden Education empowers neighbors to better understand the earth, to connect with one another, and to benefit from the healing of natural spaces.
We meet with Franklinton neighbors of all ages in community spaces as well as hosting programming in our own space, the Patrick Kaufman Learning Garden.
The Patrick Kaufman Learning Garden is our one-third acre outdoor learning space which hosts on-site programming. Within this space, we host education programming year-round.
The Garden is outfitted with inclusive infrastructure including

a shaded pavilion which is home to our outdoor kitchen.
We provide provide restorative gardening programs focusing on wellbeing through garden education, environmental stewardship, and outdoor exploration. We have partnered with local community organizations including;

Through local partnerships, students help build and manage gardens at their school.
School gardens can serve as living laboratories. Students see, experience, and practice what they are learning in the classroom and use that first-hand knowledge to grow food.
We are delighted to host children education programming and have stewarded school gardens in conjunction with
Twice a year we offer a 9 week Agricultural workforce development program for our local high school students.
In partnership with the wonderful faculty and staff of Franklinton Prep High School, five outstanding students learn from our Education and Vegetable teams in effort to foster a sense of environmental stewardship, as well as increasing knowledge to growing, harvesting, and cooking food.
As a result of their hard work students earn Environmental Science credits to assist in graduation and are also paid a living wage.
Throughout our neighborhood we support historic and new neighbors alike in their efforts to establish Home Victory Gardens. Neighbors are provided supplies, plants/seeds, and mentorship to help support their backyard gardening needs.
Participants in this program are encouraged to participate in educational sessions and networking opportunities.
