Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! We want all of our subscribers to have a connection to Franklinton and develop a connection to the farm. We ask that you not just get your food from us and never visit this side of town, but build a presence. Pick-up on Sundays and supplement your box with goodies from the u-pick, bring your friends and family to one of our events, or volunteer with us.
-
The Weekly Harvest Pack program provides a weekly share of fresh greens, vegetables, fruits and herbs grown on Franklinton Farms throughout the year. It is modeled as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
-
Community Supported Agriculture is at the heart of everything we do at Franklinton Farms.
At its simplest, a CSA is a subscription to a farm's harvest. You sign up, and each week you receive a share of what's fresh.
At Franklinton Farms, we think CSA means something even bigger. It means community supporting one another with what we have to offer.
When you purchase a Harvest Pack, you're helping create a healthier, greener, more connected neighborhood. Your support helps us grow food, care for the farms, host free community events, maintain our free seed library, offer a free u-pick seven days a week, and create beautiful, welcoming spaces for everyone.
Community support isn't one-sided. Our Harvest Packs are designed to make supporting the farm easy. They're offered in convenient 8-week sessions, giving you a weekly selection of seasonal vegetables while providing the farm with dependable income to plan and grow.
When you join our CSA, you're joining something bigger than a produce subscription. You're becoming part of a community that believes healthy food, beautiful spaces, and strong neighborhoods are things we build together and for everyone.

Every Harvest Pack is a little different—that's part of the fun!
Your pack will change week to week and season to season, depending on what's growing at its peak. Weather, pests, and the natural rhythms of farming all play a role, so each week's selection is Farmer's Choice.
We aim to create a balanced Harvest Pack that helps you cook delicious meals throughout the week. Most packs include:
1 cooking green (kale, chard, collards, etc.)
1 salad green (lettuce, arugula, spinach, salad mix, etc.)
1 fresh herb
1 allium (onions, garlic, scallions, chives, leeks, etc.)
1 root vegetable
1–6 additional seasonal vegetables, fruits, or specialty items, depending on your share size and what's abundant that week.
One week might be overflowing with tomatoes and basil. Another might celebrate crisp carrots, sweet peppers, and tender greens. That's the joy of eating with the seasons—you'll experience the incredible variety that local farming has to offer.
We like to think of each Harvest Pack as a little snapshot of the farm that week.
-
The Large Pack contains 6-12 items and the Small Pack contains roughly 5-8 items so choose whichever makes the most sense for your household.
Note: 1 item = 1 bag of spinach, 1 pint of tomatoes, 1 bunch of basil etc.
-
We believe that access to healthy, affordable, chemical-free vegetables is a human right.
We also believe that what your family can afford should be separate from how much you value this work. We trust that you know your own budget better than anyone else. We invite you to balance your family's needs with the needs of the farm in whatever way you are able.
Our goal is to average $32 per Harvest Packacross all of our members. That doesn't mean we need everyone to pay $32.
If you're able to pay the full price, or even contribute a little extra, you help make reduced-cost shares possible for someone else. If you need to pay less, we want you to do that without guilt or hesitation.
There is no judgment either way. We're simply grateful you're here.
If cost is a barrier, use the code HARVESTACCESS at checkout to receive 50% off either share size—no questions asked.
We're also working diligently to make Harvest Packs available for purchase online using EBT/SNAP, and we are currently awaiting federal approval. Until then, if you would like to pay using EBT/SNAP, please email INFO@franklintonfarms.org to get instructions for ordering online and picking up at the Franklinton Farms office where we can run your card in person.

Yes. Our Harvest Packs are offered in 8-week seasons, and we ask members to commit to the full session when they join.
Community Supported Agriculture is built on mutual commitment. When you sign up, you're helping us plan how much to plant, harvest, and pack each week. In return, we're committing to grow fresh, high-quality vegetables for you throughout the season.
Think of it as making a promise to one another. That shared commitment is what makes a CSA work.
Missed the registration deadline? Don't worry! If we still have Harvest Packs available, you're welcome to join after the season has started. We'll prorate your share so you only pay for the weeks remaining in the session.

No! We want joining a Harvest Pack to work for as many people as possible.
You can choose to pay weekly, monthly, or all at once.
If you're in a position to pay for your 8-week session up front, it makes a big difference for the farm. Early payments help us purchase materials, pay our staff, and confidently plan.
But if paying weekly or monthly works better for your household, that's wonderful too.
-
Each box will include our weekly zine that has recipe ideas and inspiration.

Because each Harvest Pack is filled with freshly harvested produce, any boxes that aren't picked up are passed along to our community partners so the harvest can be enjoyed while it's at its best.
Your Harvest Pack will be shared with Free For All, Make-a-Day or Crossroads World Outreach Ministries. We love knowing that every vegetable finds its way to someone's table.
